Housing
At the University of Washington, you get a variety of housing to choose from. Ranging from off-campus housing and on-campus housing, UW provides a mountain of options when it comes to choosing what you like. One of the catchy points about getting enrolled at UW is that you are not required to stay on-campus during your freshman year. The UW offers numerous opportunities for international students, but there are a few essential steps you need to follow before you can make the most out of the UW student life that awaits you.
After you enroll in one of the best universities in the United States of America, it's time to take care of your student accommodation.
On-Campus Housing
Housing at the University of Washington is administered by the Housing & Food Services department at the University of Washington. Undergraduates are housed primarily in residence halls located on North Campus and West Campus. There are also 12-month apartment spaces available for undergraduate students.
It’s not a secret that the UW housing market is oversaturated. This can make it challenging to find a place to live during your studies. Luckily, however, the UW keeps on building more and more (student) houses and dorms to keep up with the growing demand. In the UW, there are various types of student homes available, from rooms in a shared apartment to private studios or small apartments. In order to help you out with a wide variety of options, we created the following guideline to help you structure your search.
West Campus
The speciality about the West Campus dorms is that all the buildings are built in a modern design. You get to choose from private rooms and shared rooms. You can also choose from apartment-style housing and dorm housing. In dorms, you get access to common kitchen, study rooms, and student lounges. Dorm rooms are furnished but you can bring in whatever you like. A mini-fridge is mostly seen in every room which is bought by a student on his/her own expense.

North Campus
The speciality about some of the North Campus dorms is that some of the buildings are newly built in a modern design. You get to choose from private rooms and shared rooms. Unlike west campus housing, you do not have a town-house in north campus. In dorms, you get access to common kitchen, study rooms, and student lounges. Dorm rooms are furnished but you can bring in whatever you like. A mini-fridge is mostly seen in every room which is bought by a student on his/her own expense.

Off-campus Housing
Finding Off-Campus housing might not be convenient and easy but it gives you a flexibility to choose exactly what you want. The best part about off-campus housing is that you do not need to get a dining plan on campus. You are also flexible to choose from a variety of locations near the UW campus. You also get a lot of cheap housing options depending on your willingness to travel to the campus. Off-campus housing also provides you a chance to budget your monthly expenditure. Usually, you get a 12-month lease and more spacious rooms if you opt for a multi-family house.
